I found it yesterday (Oct. 13th) at my local "Media Markt" (which had
it announced as "available Oct. 9th" in its latest flier. It became
available only yesterday, though - I kept checking once a day since
then. :)
There are some minor bugs in the German localization, but nothing
really grave. The worst part is the "4-wheel-drift" book: It's ably
translated, but sloppily edited, and there are some lines missing. The
worst "bug" I've found in the game itself so far is in the replay
screen: the indicator that shows time compression in the lower right
hand corner is labeled "Steifheit" (stiffness) ???? What have they
been thinking, I wonder?
The German version shares the UK versions "CD has to be in drive for
single player" protection. This is annoying, especially since you have
to completely restart the game after inserting the CD. I was about to
congratulate Sierra for not insisting on copy protection (apart from
the checksum thing that prevents copying the CD, which is ok since it
doesn't bother legitimate users), but this is the usual annoyance...
Apart from that, GPL is all I hoped for so far. I'm sure I'll find
*something* to complain about, but so far I haven't. :) The sim runs
perfectly on my iP250 w/ 32MB RAM and Monster 1.
