Rod,
I had problems with my sound cutting out when downshifting. I have a SBLive!
and the problem is solved if you disable 3D sound. If you want to know how
to do this in the snd_cpa.ini file let me know.

MGPRS2, am I really bad?

by Rod » Thu, 07 Jan 1999 04:00:00

One of my problems with GP2 were the flat tracks. The visuals in F1RS and
MGPR2 are quite nice. Another problem I have with some of these "ultra
realistic" games is the lack of feedback you get. This is not a knock
against them just reality. Trying to drive a computer car on a screen
without the feedback of wind, noise, engine vibration, and actual g-force
placed on the body, makes these games hard to get into. I feel the same way
about flight sims. One game that is really fun to play is F1 World Grand
Prix for the N64.

Yes Iain, please let me know, how to disable it. Also can you help me with
importing new sound files using Rene Smit v1.5 sound editor? All the sound
files say to set to "external". When I do this I can't get the sound in the
***pit, in external view it works just fine. If I use the "bank" option the
game takes me back to the desktop.

Thanks again Iain for your help!

Rod,
Put the following into the appropriate sections in your snd_cpa.ini file:
[DLL_Test]
File0=WAVX2

[DLL_Sxd]
Unconditionnal=None
File0=WAVX2

Default=WAVX2

Can't help you with the other problem I'm afraid.

Oh well, thankfully you're not damming Papy sims the same way.
We all now, how accurate the ICR2 tracks were, don't we? ;^)

Point taken...

But we are talking about a 3year old sim compared to a new-released sim.
It's a shame to still see no increase in track accuracy and realism after a
second release, especially in 1998.  But nothing surprise me anymore with
them.

Heck Ubi is also based in Montreal and the Montreal track is SO fake Im
ROTF.

You missed the point Tommy. Your right it's a game like GP2, F1RS, Nascar
99, GPL, Viper etc, etc. They are all games, based on entertainment. It's
not like any of these games will turn you into Michael Schumacher just by
playing them. I have yet to see a top GP2 gamer turn pro just by playing the
game. I say pick the game you like and enjoy it. That what separates fiction
from reality.

Cheers !

Exactly. These sims are so far from where I hope they'll eventually get that
I find it a little ridiculous the way they are criticised.

Glad to hear someone agrees with me. These games or as some call them "sims"
are treated as if they will prepare you for the next level....."The Pro's".

Give me a break...people !
