Vid card help

I have a Dell XPS R400 PII system, 256 meg SD100 Ram, motherboard will
accept an AGP 2x card, question is can I use an AGP 4x card in this slot or
not. I have a Diamond Fire Pro 1000 card now, and want to change it out to a
D3D type card without changing motherboard. Can you still buy 2x cards? I
play N3 using 2 Diamond Monster II PCI Cards,in SLI mode with drivers from
3dfx, since Diamond's drivers wouldn't work in SLI mode. That makes 3 cards
in my system, would like to get it to just 1 card if possible. Any help
would greatly appreaciated. Tom Howell-Director of VORA Offline Racing
League.
