DAMN RIGHT. This game is superb. I bought a PSX this weeked to play Ridge Racer
and Wipeout because, although I love Papyrus's games, I'm sick of not being able
to play in hires (on a 16mb P100). NFS manages two-three times the frame rate on
full detail as NASCAR does, if the maths involved in NASCAR cripples it to that
extent then maybe I'll settle for a little less realism.
To get the same frame rate as NFS, I have to play NASCAR in 320X200. Why should
we have to sacrifice graphics for realism. Each car in NFS handles differently,
and, I belive, vaguely like the real thing. The NSX is stable and punchy, the
Viper loud and tail happy, the 512TR just perfect.
And just a note to any vociferous NASCAR lovers (yes, I do enjoy it), don't
let's make a big thing of the realism aspect because Papyrus have shown a
remarkable lack of ability at modelling tracks (unlike F1GP). Yes, the cars may
handle correctly, but the tracks are not correct. Not while we have bent
pitlanes, incorrect tri ovals and hair trigger yellow flags. Papyrus are good,
but not perfect.
Anyway, a better comparison for NFS will be SCREAMER and FATAL RACING when they
are released.
