F1RS - Black sky after Garage in Free Practice

by H » Mon, 18 May 1998 04:00:00

Well, the problem is pretty described in the subject.

System:
P200, Matrox Mystique, Monster 3D, 32 MB RAM, Patch 1.09.

Full 110% season, 1st race in Melbourne, 1st free practice. When I go
into the garage after a lap, the sky is black. Also while I drive the
this first lap before I go into the garage the sky is just blue no
clouds no light effects.

Does anyone else know the problem and possibly the solution?

Thanks in advance, HK.

I think I know the problem. Is this a saved game that you loaded?
I know you said it was the first practice. But I have only seen the
black sky after loading a saved race. I would qualify one day
and race the next... FWIW, I have only gotten the black sky
twice, and have done 25% races (practice qual and race)
on every track. So for me it wasn't that huge of an issue.

The black sky problem is well known, and has been fixed with patch 1.09. Are
you running a save game from a previous version? Have you applied any hacks
to F1RS, e.g. DriverX?
Certainly, 1.09 fixed the very irritating black sky problem for me and most
other people.

Well as I'm sure you know, the person I was replying to had version
1.09. So I am not so sure "fixed" means fixed :- )

1. I applied the R.A.Y.S.-Editor and the F1RS-Editor.
2. I patched several times the night the problem arised, therefore I
cannot remember whether the loaded game was from the 1.05 version or
the 1.09 version.
3. I started a new season, saved it, reloaded it: no problem.

Well, it seems to work for now.  I will call for help if the problem
arises again.

Thanks for the replies.

That's what I had hoped. I'm sure the black sky would have come from a
previous version save game.
Let me know if you get the problem again, a I beta tested 1.09 for Ubi on
the black sky problem!
Remove nospam to email me.
good luck!
