Cheap Steering Wheels, T2 in UK

Since I have very little money I am looking for a low cost steering
wheel.  The cheapest half decent one I've found if the Thrustmaster T2,
anyone else got any ideas?

I've seen the T2 advertised over here in the UK for 119.99 including VAT
and Delivery, anyone else in the UK seen it cheaper?  (Don't say something
like Bob's Electric Shop London because I live in Plymouth Devon)

I'd also like to here from current T2 owners and find out about support
for the T2 in the UK (I've heard the support is not all that good in the
UK, unlike the states)

James,

I can't help you but you might be able to help me! Where exactly did
you see T2 for 119.99? Also, is there actually a 'Bob's Electric Shop
London' and if so what was their price?

Thanks for any help.

I got mine from 'Only The Best Computer Software'.
Their latest quoted price is UKP 105.99 plus around
5 pounds postage (PC Format July page 126).

Call them on 0117 940 1315 Mon-Fri 10am-7am Sat 10am-5pm

Like most places I called they are usually out of stock
so be prepared to wait a week or three :(
If I were you, I'd order before F1GP2 comes out.

Alternatively, you could try Eric's Electric Shop London.
It's just round the corner from Bob's shop which you seem
to have heard about.

I've my T2 for about a month, am happy with it and
fortunately haven't had to find out how good or bad the
support is. ;)

I ordered one from Gameplay (see Computer Shopper 101) for UKP 150.
This includes a copy of GP2 (which they will send me when the have
some) and a UKP 5 additional charge for next day delivery (which
they are going to refund because Securicor were late.) The T2
itself was UKP 125 and the game (special offer with the wheel) UKP 20.

If you look at prices from the US, they're quoting the same price as
in the Uk.  Except it's in US dollars, we really do get a raw deal in the
UK.
Did the money quoted for the T2 include the pedals too.  Many people
say the pedals are more important than the steering wheel in F1GP -
to reduce wheelspin and brake lockups.
Has anyone bought one of these steering wheels from Evesham.

P.S. Bob assures me that he can sell VR headsets, the T2 and pedals  for
5p.

Sadly 'Gameplay' have just cut the price of the T2 to 119.99' and 'Only
The Best Computer Software' have just put up their price to 109.99 (Both
according to PCGAMER July). Oh well, one of you got a good deal anyway :-)
By the way, someone asked about the MSC or something. I faxed Evesham for
more info and got f"k all back so I'm not even going to think about
buying it, besides that it looks like it would last about 2 secs in my
hands!

I am not a patient man - I was happy to pay Gameplay a little extra
and have it in a couple of days. They claim it is the UK supported
version so this *may* help if I require replacement parts.

Does that mean the shifter is on the other side?   :)

I bought a T2 from Gameplay last week (kind of thinking GP2 would have
been out as well -- wishful thinking :<)  I have enjoyed it very much
with ICR2 (which I picked up again since stopped playing after I
couldn't really master it with my joystick)

I have to say it is the best controlling device for driving PC sims that
I have encounted, though I have not tried the specialized, customerised
and expensive stuff  like GP500...  But I think it's miles better than
Virtual Pilot which my dad has one.  The best is that it has a 260
degree range of movement.  I am not a driving expert, so I can't say
whether it is authentic or not, but it's damn good fun!  I think it is
quite durable and not as bad as others put it.  But then, it depends how
you use it, and I haven't used it for such a long time yet.

It's a bit expensive after seeing how much the guys on the other side of
the ocean is paying.  I suspect the price might go further down.  So if
I were you, I will wait a bit.

No, there is no UK version in that sense. It just means that
Thrustmaster UK are getting a cut of the retail price so that
they can support it in the inevitable event of it going wrong.

I have a T1 which is only*** on to life due to my knowledge
of the problems with springs breaking, and by putting a stopping
block behind the pedals to limit travel. I also have a grey imported
TQS and F16FLCS which I saved ten quid on each. But.... the damn
things break down every five minutes. I've had three FLCS joysticks
and two TQS controls. When they went wrong the first time I called
Thrustmaster UK and was told to go back to the vendor as they won't
support grey imports. So, the vendor has had to sort the problems out
(as they should do anyway for the first year), but I bet they didn't
expect this all to happen within the first two months !

M***of story - Don't buy grey imports. You will be shafted when
it all breaks on day 366.
