SB Live Game Port adjustments

Is there any adjustments that can be made to the BIOS, Win98 system,
ect... that will give better performance for the controller?  Example:
is there a buffer I can adjust? or anything at all that will help?

I don't have any real problems right now. I'm looking to improve the
system I do have.
