i'd like a utility which analyses my driving 'style' and lines and so
on, from replays, and turns them into data which can be put into
driver.ini and other files so i'd be able to race against 19 copies of
myself!  (probably the only way i'll ever win a race :-) )

i'd also be able to import clones of the greats from this very
newsgroup and race against them, without having to do this on-line
racing stuff.

could be a sort of half-way-house between racing against hill clark et
al and going on line.

Yeah, I wish they put in a ghost car feature.  Like in Viper racing.  I
remember the ghost car in Mario Kart back in the day.  I pushed so hard just
to beat my ghost car and it really worked.  You could test things out in a
turn and find out if it was faster or if you got slowed down too much etc
cause either you would get a lead on the ghost car or he would just come
flying around you.  I raced that game all the time.  OK I'm done talking
now.

Ghost racing should be an option in all driving games. I'm sure it wouldn't
take too much resources. I've noticed that it is an excellent way to improve
lap time and really dial in a track. It is a great way of working your way
up. I remember first seeing this is MotoRacer. I thought it was a great idea
then. I think it was the best tool that made me dial in tracks. It defiantly
added allot of entertainment to the game.

Absolutely. That's a great idea.
