I think it all depends on your driving style. I think the Lotus is
probably the raw "fastest" car since most of the record hotlap drivers
seem to use it for hotlaps, but personally I find the handling of the Lotus
is too nervous for me to drive consistently, so I choose to drive the
Eagle due to the "decent" handling combined with good supply of
power. I've also driven the Ferrari which also looks like it has great
controllable handling and great medium range power, just not as much
top end, which means it could be great at twisty tracks where you are not
concentrating on top speed.
For me, the question is less which car is the absolute fastest, but
which car can I drive consistently fastest at most of the tracks.
In online racing GPL so far, I've even been on the grid 3rd or 4th place
eagle with a couple of lotuses ahead and managed to pull off a win with
consistent driving, not even having the fastest lap of the race. Personally
this is more satisfying than getting fastest lap and crashing a lot. But that
might be just me.
Eventually I hope to master all the cars in GPL, I can tell that like GP2,
I will be playing GPL for a long time to come. I'm just glad that Papyrus
chose to model the different feeling car models since this will give
GPL a whole added dimension in mastering the different cars as well
as mastering the tracks.
Seeyas on the track.
