Don't worry about getting to their cars. Their new ones are not the
best I have seen. If they come back online and you want great cars
from the past then IWCCCARS is great. If you're looking for good
98 cars go to STORM CARS. They have done a very detailed job
and update often.

Thats because Patrick Gilmore doesn't do the cars for them anymore....and
frankly...it SHOWS!
I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so here is mine.
I use the IWCC cars, but I dl'd the cars from Storm ones also. I wanted
to see which one was better.
The Storm ones are good, but there are many flaws in the cars. Most of
the cars need better blending of the numbers and colors on the cars like
the #13 and 16. Some of the cars are also modified IWCC cars. ex #97 John
Deere logo does not move when I toggle between IWCC and Storm.
One other thing I like is that the IWCC cars have driver backgrounds,
pics, and stats. The Storm ones do not.
That said, I did like that Storm had some of the one-race sponsored cars
like the #44 Blues Brothers car.

git.net apparently screwed up the server big time over the weekend, and
Dave is trying to get them to take care of this ASAP.

Some server-side functions (such as Q&A) are still down, but the majority
of the site is now back up and running. The '98 WC set has been updated,
with a number of new entries available as Brian mentioned, along with
a thoroughly overhauled '97 set with photos, stats, bios, and cars
updated through the end of the '97 season, including several cars not
previously available on IWCCCARS and two I have not seen available anywhere
else.
Thanks for your support.

How does that old saying go, "Imitation is the sincerest form
of Flattery!" That being said, I have a few things to point out to
theses two "Carset Critics". I will start by saying that I for one
wish there could be a way to watermark all designs a creator does to
be able to tell when you cars are copied, even if it is only a logo or
a number. Myself and Chris Frederick from Racing HQ, have discussed a
way that it can be done, so remember this in the future.
Now on to the point, You talk about how the IWCCCARS cars are
not up to the standard that they were in the past, well I for one have
to disagree. If you want proof, get an old carset from us and see if
you can pick the ones that Patrick did. I bet you would be surprised.
As for the carset from The "Storm Motorgroup" that he insists
is so much better, let me let you in on a few secrets.
1. The #44, #96 and #97 are almost entirely cut and pasted
from IWCCCARS cars.
2. Look at a side by side comparison of cars like #11, #16,
#18, #30, #50, #46 and # 90, then honestly tell me where
the quality is.
3. The Tabasco car took me 2 days to do, because of
all the hand blending and logo designs and if you look
the one from the Storm #35, you will first see the quality
isn't even close, and the flames were cut and pasted from
ours and moved down. Logos also only moved.
4. The #33 Skoal car, look at the numbers on the side, they
were cut and pasted and the color edited.
5. The #4 Kodak and the #22 MBNA cars, have had all of the
graphics, cut and pasted from our cars.
6. The #24 Dupont and the #28 Havoline, are almost identical
except for him darkening or changing the color a little.
7. The #9 Cartoon Network car, was done by cutting and pasting
from Chris Fredericks set at Racing HQ.
Now I could go on, but whats the point, You don't have to be a
Brain Surgeon to see what I am Talking about. I appologize for the
length of this post but, I never post to the news groups, so I think I
should be allowed to just post 1 long one per year. ;-) <BG>

Well, enough lurking in the background here....
The cars I did for the IWCCCARS 1997 carset included:
#1, #2, #8, #9, #11, #23, #29, #30, #31, #33, #36, #40, #41, #42, #43, #44,
#94, #97 and #98.
I also did a fair number of the '97 BGN cars.
Some of those above have been slightly modified over time by other members.
I was off-line for quite a long time and did not contribute to the 1998
carset other than the cars that remained the same from 1997.
While I was off-line I put together my "own" 1998 carset and I
mentioned this to Dave Sparks at IWCCCARS. Since they already have a set
put together I doubt if they are interested in mine.
