<snip> I went by you on the low side as you were coming to a stop after

Yeah, I pitted right after and the boys were workin those hammers pretty
hard.  But that was a bit of a stretch, I admit.  TV quote: "just shows how
tough these Dodges are!" ;-)

<snip> I was down to 3 pounds of fuel pressure before I stopped. I stayed

Kinda hate to admit it, but I wasn't even sure if we were supposed to pit or
not going into the race, and almost wrecked once looking for the gas guage.
Saw it was pressure, and figured I'd get a pit call so I stayed out.  Got a
bit to learn.

<snip> What the heck happened to you after turn 4?  You had me beat for 5th

A miscalculation;  since we were so close the last few laps, and it WAS
Indy, thought I'd try what Schumacher had failed at.  I flubbed it too; this
must really BE a sim!

Yeah, it was a lot of fun.  I'm not usually around when these things are
run, but I'll definitely try to make them when I can.  Might even venture
into the paint shop, though I'm artistically challenged.

Thanks for the good racing!

The race was fun, but you guys just ran away from me.
I was struggling just to see the tails of you.
When it came time for me to be lapped, I just pulled over and quit. I
was going to be a hazard and didn't want to ruin anyone's fun.

Thanks John for hosting. Maybe we can start doing this every week or
so again. Heaven knows I need the practice.  lol

<snip>

Not disagreeing here, John, cause I've driven damaged cars that didn't seem to
lose anything when damaged much more than I got at Indy, but...

Having qual'd well on Sat (really nailed about 7/8ths of the 2nd Q lap & a PB
at Indy w/o draft), I started 2nd & was doing well keeping up w/ Colin for the
1st ~15 laps or so when I slid out of turn 2 & smacked the wall w/ the RF.
Thinking that with such little damage (a bit of the hood came up), I would
remain competitive.  Only took a turn or two to discover that the car wouldn't
turn in anymore :(  Also increased wear on the RF dramatically, forcing me to
pit for tires at  ~lap 34.  Don't know if the damage was modeled as loss of
aero, camber change, toe change, or possibly I just couldn't drive it right...
who knows?  (I should have checked tire temps, but didn't think of it then)
I just couldn't seem to maintain the same corner speeds (at least 3-4 mph
less) as b4 the "minor" contact w/ the wall, even on fresh tires.  Which leads
us to...

<snip some more>

For a number of laps, I was watching Steve, Jan, & you gaining by at least 1 -
1 1/2 sec per lap (not only gaining on me, but also running closer together
each time I looked) & realized, Oh sh**, I'm gonna be in the way.  I was
hoping to let all 3 by w/out creating a problem or losing too much ground
(still had hopes of catching the draft) so I went to the low side on the BS.
When I went into turn 3, the car wouldn't TURN!  (Might have had something to
do with missing my mark)  Still don't know how Jan missed the dummy sliding
across in front of him, but his reflexes kept us both off the wall... Sorry
again, Jan. <sigh>

A few times I've gotten damage (noticeable & fairly major) to the rear of the
car, & the car became *way* loose, but this is the first time I've noticed a
car get *way* pushy with comparatively minimal damage to the front.  Oh, and
did I mention that I'm sorry, Jan?

Agreed  (Well, 'cept for the 15 car...)  <sigh>

Well, that was probably because I had bad connectivity problems
8-P I wonder if fellow racers have experienced this, so here
goes:

I could join the race just fine and had a reasonable ping (167
or so, I'm on xDSL) to the server, but once I leave the pitlane
about halfway down the first lap the quality meter goes through
the roof and Poof! I disco.

I tried other N2002 servers, same problem.

Rebooted, went to VROC, GPL works fine online.

Back to N2002, same problem!

I'm stumped and have no idea where to look for clues. Any ideas?

Cheers & thanks in advance,

uwe

What track did you guys run?  I should have tried to get in the race - I got
crashed out of my MoG race, dammit... :-(

Steve's car got pretty well creamed by Jle in the right-rear quarter
panel, but it didn't appear to affect his lap speeds.  I think maybe
the damage model is more deliberate where the front end is concerned,
hence the descrepencies.

(The preceding remark was not intended as a nationalistic or racial

Yeah, Jan and I entered the turn and you slid high going into the
chute ahead of us. By the time everyone realized what was happening,
I was underneath Jan and he had to wait till I went by.  :)

Maybe it's just as well that I missed it - I'm *way* off the pace there...
