F1 Rule Changes...

>Maybe, as someone else suggested, Ferrari and Bridgestone have (in effect)
>already put these engineers/designers in the same room??

This is the point where the lightbulb in everyone's head should go
off.

I mean, think about Ferrari's ***.  They don't have the best
aero package (they never have in the history of the company's
involvement in F1) and they haven't had the best engines since the
pre-turbo era.  Yet both drivers stomp all over the field.  Sure
electronics probably have something to do with it, as does reliability
which has always been a hallmark of Ferrari but...  As I understand
it, the most important part of going fast, from an automotive
engineering standpoint, is optimizing the efficiency of the tires.  If
Ferrari is sleeping with Bridgestone, as I've seen reported many
times, I don't think it's a stretch to assume that's why they're so
***.

i agree with your conclusion, but ANYone who thinks the latest Ferrari
engine isn't on Par with ANYTHING out there is not paying attention.  And
the Aero-package on the current chassis is 2nd to none.  Yes they have a
great tire relationship with Bridgestone, but they have also optimized the
rest of the package.  I didn't even see the vaunted BMW block pull the
Merced the last few events...

Heh, agreed. So now Rubinho gets 8 points a race, not 6.
As for the possibility of a Ferrari***ing up qualifying and having to
actually pass a few cars, we saw last season that that ain't hard for
them...(or remember the season before where RB started last and won?)

Nope, they haven't won me back...

Bah - part of the fun was watching how drivers deal with slower traffic during
their flying laps...

At least a top 8 finish is now worth SOMETHING.

Yeah, like they could PROVE it?  As has been stated before, all it takes is a
'mistake' during a pitstop to put the team cars in the desired order..

And of course, the better-financed teams can pay for 'special' tires. :-(

Bleah...

Brilliant! So if you're coming second, you're less likely to challenge
for the lead 'cause you know you'll still get 8 points. And a rap over
the knuckles from the team if you risk trying to win.

Big incentive!
