Probably all those who intend to buy the momo should ask Logitech about their
spare-parts policy *in advance*.
Would be interesting <g>

Don,
I expect from a wheel manufacturer that he stocks at least wear-parts pots,...
Without confirmation I would not buy their product.

Wait a moment....

At the very least it would be nice to know if they use standard pots in
the wheel and pedals, as opposed to the proprietary parts they used in
the GP.  At least that way when they do wear out I can replace them with
parts bought from an electronics store.

What's really needed are not pots (avail from almost anywhere), but
mechanicals & CBs.  Alison Hine tells me that the main diff between the
Taiwanese & Chinese LWFFs are circuit boards; a nickel & dime item that
*should* be readily available, but isn't.  I'm not going to waste any more $
chasing junked Logi h/w just to keep my LWFF going; there are better options
avail w. better support.

Their spare-parts "policy" is simple: FU.

I believe that it is US law that manufacturers must carry spare parts for 7
years after the discontinuance of a product.

I am NOT sure that applies to everything, though...

To read more about the differences between Chinese and Taiwan wheels, check out
my webpage.
Where can you get the pots from? I know that CH offers exactly the same type,
but I find those quite pricy for that lousy quality.
Standard pots don't have a flattened shaft and that tabs, which prevent the pot
from (casing) turning.

About the cirquit boards: I doubt that anybody has really fried a board yet by
normal use. The thermistor is a different story but seems to be with the motor -
I'm working on that

President Reagan reduced the law for Auto manufactures requirements to
supply replacement parts from (I believe) 15 years to 10 years.

I remember this from when I got a letter from Chrysler Corp. announcing that
they were selling off old excess inventory in the mid 80's. A lot of 60's
Muscle car freaks found a gold mine in this law change.

I don't know if this applies to all goods sold in the United States or not.
Maybe the Clinton Administration mucked around with this law a little
further to "Stimulate his Economy"?

I don't think that applies.  The guys on the Wingman team told me that
they do not and will not sell spare parts.

I'll just keep using my CH racing wheel that keeps snapping the tension springs.
I've only repaired it 7 times already...but hey, for 25 bux....how can ya lose?? :^|

I got a couple of 'em from Newark Electronics, which stocks pots of every
size & description (along with engineering drawings).  They were small dia.,
w. std. shafts, Mil-spec & fairly expensive, but they last forever.

Obviously toys don't count (at least seems so)
I read from someone in UK that he was able to obtain a power brick from
Logitech. But I still have to hear about anybody, who got an integral part like
cirquit board or pots from them. Logitech had a quite convenient way to handle
warranty claims though, they simply sent a all new unit while stock was
available. Unluckily this didn't work in the area where I live :-(
