I saw no improvement in VQuake or Nascar 2 with the new version of Univbe.
The Quake timerefresh didn't show even .1 fps difference with 5.3a loaded
or not.  The Screamin 3D bios are tops according to Next-Generation
magazine so I don't think that Univbe 5.3a is going to help out just yet.

Just my opinion and according to my tests on a P90 with 24 Meg  of EDO.

5.3a works with my STB Velocity 3D, were as 5.3 did not. Makes quite a
difference when i run it with fastvid. fastvid did not do much when i
didn't have univbe installed!

I assume you are running this with a Reactor. When I benchmarked
Sdd v5.3a with my Reactor (Duke Nukem 3D)  my FPS went from 37
(Reactor onboard VESA BIOS) to 30 with SDD v5.3a. At that point, I
didn't bother doing any more benchmarks.

>> No one else has mentioned it here, so I guess I will.  SciTech just
>> released version 5.3a of it's popular UniVBE program, Display Doctor,

I got it and found no frame rate improvement for any games that I have.
The only advantage this software offers is the lower-res SVGA mode.
In 460x350 (?) duke3d gets 40fps and looks better than 320x200.

Anyone know if Display Doctor will provide NT drivers for the Screamin'
3D card?  Or does anyone know anywhere else to get them?

Rendition is currently alpha testing NT and new Win95 drivers.
