ETCC shifting question

by Marc Collin » Fri, 07 Nov 2003 09:00:02

Do the real ETCC cars use steering wheel paddles or traditional
floor-mounted gear shifters for their sequential boxes?

Thanks,

Marc

Here is a link to the current ETCC drivers and if you click on the cars you
will find technical specifications.

Thanks, but that info. doesn't actually answer my question.  I'll assume
since some of the cars are still using an H-pattern that all are
floor-mounted, including the sequentials.  It did tell me that they are not
all sequential, which surprises me.

I also have made the assumption that they are all floor shift. It is
interesting to note the Hewland 6-speed, sequential shift is the same used
on the Lister Storm. The Cart Lola also uses it and that shifter is floor
mounted or at any rate wall mounted lol.

ETCC shifting question

ETCC cars aren't really BTCC spec Super Tourers, but all the incar shots
that I can dredge up in my memory of the BTCC cars had some sort of
sequential shift lever.   Some of the Shifters were quite large, and some
rather dainty, but they all worked off the floorpan or a riser attached to
the floor.
I only saw a few ETCC races last year so I can't remember if the ETCC
cars used the same layouts...I would suspect them to be similiar, due to
the virtually same formula being used for each series..(2.0litre) Super
Touring cars.   I'm also guessing that the current generation of both BTCC
and ETCC cars have a lower horsepower rating.  Perhaps it's time for ol
dave to visit Nigel's red shoes web site again.
