it is probably just a matter of adjusting your d3d color properties in the
settings.  Try going to the 3dfx color tab in the advanced button of the
video settings(whew!)  then clik the d3d button and move the sliders left or
right to adjust your color settings(saturation?)  My d3d settings are at
1.30 and seem just fine.  I have all three sliders locked to the same level.
give it a try...doesn't look washed out on my system..
fwiw...when the first 3dfx patch came out for n2 waaaay back in the dark
ages...everyone said the 3dfx colors were washed out compared to the
Rendition settings...
the more things change the more the stay the same.

Adjust your D3D gamma settings under desktop properties.

Is this an exclusive then, WSC is now DX8 only?  I personally agree with
that decision as it will reduce the remaining developement time, but it may
dissapoint the 3dfx brigade [all 3 of them ;) ].  Using W-Buffering is also
a very good idea, since 16-bit z-buffers are not up to the job for a game
which will clearly need a close near clip plane (for the virtual***pits).

Don't need to answer that, I just found the answers in your piece on
simracingmag.

Thanks Dave... I'll give it a try. I must admit though that I think N4 looks
okay using D3D but then again I don't have Glide to compare it to. I'll try
your suggested settings and play around with it a bit more and cross
reference how GPL looks with changes to how N4 looks compared to present
settings.

Robin

Hi Simon, actually it's not something new (DX8) from my part, I've already?
talked about this in November in 2000. You can see the article I did on the
subject there :

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

It also speak about SSE2 instuction enhanced.

Last note, I got an entire section devoted to WSC there :

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Interestingly, it's been exactly 1 year I started to make articles with the West
Bros

Cheers

Eric

can we find a proper email address to flood and all flood the same one?

Things like..

It'll be the only way to guarentee a quality produt
Only way of ensuring total hardware compatability
It'll shut us the hell up
Will increase market awareness and expectation
Will prompt pre-order purchases
