Nascar modem bugs

by Karen Sue Knutse » Fri, 08 Nov 1996 04:00:00

Recently I tried modem-racing a friend for the first time. We both use
original NASCAR games & track packs, and version 121. Our first problem
was that the program would not run with any converted ICRII tracks. Does
anyone know if this can be fixed?
The major bug, however, was that, even though we raced with damage off,
we could see each others cars disintegrate, in the end I was racing
against something looking like a bathtub! No wheels! The AI cars also
chrashed spectacularly, and continued racing, trailing sparks, and
throwing bits of bodywork now and then. At Watkins GLen, the AIs smoked
going through the chicane, and threw up dirt everywhere. Any remedies?
It also seemed a lot easier to do good lap times; the car felt really
different, and I was pulling remarkable laptimes at all the tracks we
tried!

Could anyone please enlighten me on this????

Thanks,

Matthew Knutsen,

NASCAR always goes down to the wire.......

I've been modem racing for awhile now so hopefully I can help.  With the
converted track my racing partner and I had to take one of our other tracks out
of our tracks directory and replace it with the converted one for it to work.
The newest Multi must check the number of tracks or something.  Also, make sure
both of you have the track and that it is the exact same on both computers.
As far as the damage goes, you just have to live with it.  If you have damage off
the cars will look messed up but nobody is actually getting hurt.  You probably
are making quicker laps with multi.  The car dynamics are a bit different and it
makes the car stick a little better.  Hope this helps.

Kelby!

I'm the other one (his partner), are you ref. to the newest ver. of "MULTI"
for HAWAII?

I've race on HAWAII a couple of time, but had to quit 'cause my phonebill
got rather large!! (Calling from Norway to BOSTON,USA is about $10 for
15mins.!!!)
