I heard rumors about the Eifel Klassik, an Oldtimer event on the
Nordschleife each year in fall, liek early October.
It was said that this year, 1960 F1 cars will take part.

Well, I am obviously a newbie to F1.  Thanks to all for the info.
I'm still psyched for the race!  Was the old (original?) track
closed because of Lauda's accident?

To put this thread more-or-less back on topic, I assume the current F1
games (like F1 2000 which I rented for my PSX last night) use the "new"
Ring?

Are there any good F1 games that use the old (original?) Ring?

Also, thanks to the poster who posted the URL for the maps; they're great!

Yes- the old track was finally judged to be too unsafe for F1.

Yep.

Grand Prix Legends.  You'll get to know that name very well around here.

Oops...I don't want to give the wrong impression here.  The old track still
exists and was not "closed".  As a matter of fact, the public can run there
on certain days even today.  It's just that F1 no longer runs races there.

Goy Larsen:

Yes, I have; it wasn't.

I suspect you were suggesting I drive the Nordschleife during the GP.  I
hadn't thought of that.  It would have been tempting!  Guaranteed to be
really quiet; unlike the rest of the day when mostly drunk vandals populate
the track, and I'd conveniently miss watching the race.  But, unfortunately,
it's closed.

Ah, well, in that case, try visiting the place during the Historical GP,
it's usually run in early August, lots of lovely cars from the 30's and
upwards and the Nordschleife is most certainly open, not exactly quiet
and deserted, but due to the fact that a LOT of clubs decide to use this
weekend to meet up there, you get the chance to run on the Nordschleife
alongside some really cool cars :-)))

I'm always amazed that they dare to run those great old cars together with
all the loonies in Golf GTIs... ;)
