Wheel Help Needed

by Scott B. Huste » Sat, 10 Apr 1999 04:00:00

Guys,

I have a Thrustmaster NPro wheel.  Im trying to get it to work with
separate axis.  Now.. before you go saying it doesnt work in N2
<VBG>...  it does.  Its working in N2 just fine.  Thats not where my
problem lies.

When I go into N2 I just calibrate joystick 1 as normal for steering and
gas, then calibrate joystick 2 for brake.  Everything is fine.

However...  Ive set the settings in control panel in both joystick setup
and ProPanel for NPro seperate axis.  I cannot get windows to recognize
the brake pedal no matter what I do ??

In GPL...  I can get it to recognize seperate axis but only with the
generic driver.  It wont recognize in the direct I assume because
Windows is not recognizing the brake.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to help me out??

All suggestions are appreciated.

If you are using Win95, get Thrustmaster's ProPanel to setup your Pro
Wheel
ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/propanelv11.exe

You can also play with the "rudder" check box in the game controller
setup for the NASCAR Pro.  I can't remember whether it needs to be
checked or unchecked.  Just do the opposite of what it now is and it
should work right with direct input (DirectX).

% I"m running Win98, using the Nascar Pro wheel, but cannot calibrate it. I do
% not get the Pro Panel, just the Game Controllers window in Control Panel, but
% there is no place for calibration there. The wheel works with my kid's Test
% Drive Off Road 2, but the buttons don't, and maybe we are missing other
% features. Have sent several EM's to Thrustmaster, but their replies do not
% address, nor solve my problem. Would hata to have to return the wheel, as I
% understand it is one of the best. Will appreciate any help. Thanks.

First thing to do is make sure you don't have any other devices listed
in the General tab of Game Controllers.  The best thing to do is delete
everything there (including the NASCAR Pro).  Then check in the Advanced
tab and make sure nothing is listed there as well.  Well in the Advanced
tab make sure that you have "Standard Gameport" selected for Port Driver
(if this doesn't work for you and you have other choices available try
them).   Now go back to the General tab and Add the NASCAR Pro (chose
the one that matches how you have the switch set on your pedal base).
Now click on Properties (or double click the entry in the list).  You
should now be able to calibrate and test your wheel.
