In my opinion, the following things need improvement:
1) The bug with setting the wheel controls needs to be fixed.
I have a Thrustmaster Super Sport and I can not change
the control settings to use separate axis for the throttle and
brake or change the buttons to shift gears, etc.
2) If you take your foot off the brake, the car slows down
much too quickly (like you hit the brakes).  There seems
    to be too much friction.
3) There seems to be too much traction.  It is too difficult to
get wheel spin and to lock-up the brakes.
4) Way too much friction in the quick sand (grass).
5) Need a gear indicator on the in car view.

Other than the above comments, the simulator has a good
model, good graphics, and good features.  I will buy it if the
above issues are addressed; but, I am not sure if I will
otherwise.  Although, it does have Road Atlanta, Mosport,
Limerock, Laguna Seca, and Sebring ...

I have not experienced the gear shifter problem.  I can set mine to whatever
I want it.  Maybe it has something to do with the separate axis?

I did not experience this very much because I am normally on the gas or on
the brakes but I do know that when you run out of gas, you can coast for a
half to a full lap so the friction can't be that bad.

Just wanted to add some comments

Ditto with my CH Pro Pedals.

I don't experience this.  And I did look for it.  The coast down deceleration
to me does not seem extraordinary.  Actually, if anything, I thought it might
be underestimated.  I've read that a 200 mph indy car decelerates at 1G when
off the throttle!  And this does make sense when one estimates the forces
involved.  I've found that at 150 mph or so, SCGT shows small fractional G
deceleration.  Certainly not like hitting the brakes.

Agree with the rest.

I'm willing to be that you didn't change your pedals to the
combined-axis through the Windows 95 applet for the SS.  I had this
same problem with my SS before I changed to combined-axis.  Taking the
foot off of the gas is actually applying the brake when you try to run
with a separated axis, at least with the TM SS.

The friction problem you mentioned may be your joystick calibration. When
getting off the gas you may actually be on the brakes slightly (single axis)

I personally don't like the graphics too well, I guess they just seem rather
bland. I have the same complaint about Viper, but Viper is better than SCGT
to me. The asphalt and grass textures don't look right to me.. too pixelated
I think. Maybe my graphics settings are off or I am spoiled by SBK and GPL.
I'm no graphics artist, but this is how I perceive it.

I agree with everything else you mention.

Make sure bilinear filtering is on. What video card do you have?

I turned filtering on, I have a Creative Voodo2 12 meg.

I don't want it to sound like I'm slaming this demo just because of the
graphics. I really enjoy the demo, I just pointed out that I have seen
better graphics.  2 years ago if I saw this I would have been very
satisfied. I just think the graphics are nothing special. Again this is my
personal opinion an I think it has something to do with my preference for
how papyrus does there asphalt textures. They are much smoother with a
darker racing line. Is this more realistic? I'm not sure.. I'm not really
qualified to tell you.. I just know my eyeballs like it better.

Thanks for the response.
