Waiting for the patch of the patch:

And I too did everything - uninstalled SCGT in case the unofficial patch
screwed with it, reinstalled it fresh, then applied the patch. I even OC'd
the CPU, under c'd it, tweaked the TNT video card, everything - but it just
slows way down. :(

Ditto; I hadn't tried nuking the mirror, but I did notice a big framerate hit
after installing the patch. Downright st..st..stuttery! This on a
450Celery/V3 running in D3D that previously ran everything maxed out at 10X7
with no trouble at all(excepting full field night races in the rain, and those
weren't bad). I went back to the pre-patch setup and all's well again. No
patch for me just yet, thanks.
Cheers,

Me too, using Big Ben's great "Porsche_revised"-dash and your great sounds,
but this occurred only after I reapplied the Advanced Options patch, 'cause
I was not sure, if the true simulation mode was affected by the 1551 patch.
Maybe SCGT just doesn't like so much cheatin'... :-)
Zolli,
who thought, he now would not need to hit F4 twice anymore...
Gentlemen! ;-] Start your engines!
Yes! Me too. I didn't realize it was the mirror, so I'll try turning it off,
but the fps in the desert at night went WAY down. What is the game save file?
Can I reinstall without losing my progress?
