What is papy doing now? (CART?)

by CART » Sat, 13 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I remember last year Jim S. a papy employee at the time, although not any
longer, said in this NG that the next CART will be realesed sometime in 99.
If this is still true they would have to be working on it now, as Im sure it
takes at least 9 mon (time left in 99) to go from day 1 to on the shelves.
So does anybody know if papy has indeed started working on CART already?

p.s.  what the hell is with people in this NG saying "NASCAR is popular and
open wheel racing is losing populatiry ect thats why papy won't make a open
wheel sim now bla bla bla"  This just isn't true folks.  F1 Racing still has
WWWAAAAYYYY  more of a TV audiance than NASCAR and CART has the most races
ever this year, every year most of the CART races set new attendence records

says...

You must be a brandy new racing fan, and have, for whatever reason,
selected CART as your series of choice.  I'm happy for you.  But re-
starting this troll thread will do nothing but clog up the newsgroup.
Nobody but Papyrus knows what Papyrus is working on, and the endless
speculation and public wishing will have little effect on what they have
lined up for the next year or so.

The only thing we can be fairly confident in is that Papyrus will someday
release the rumored GPL patch, and that Nascar Racing 3 will be released
late this year.  After that, who really knows?  You based your message on
someonething a past employee said a year or so ago.  Now THERE'S a star
that's worth hitching your wagon to....

Nascar *IS* the most popular in the USA and F1 is probably the most
popular in Europe.  Nascar-sanctioned races have been selling out in
terms of attendance for years.  You can't argue with the numbers.  With
Papyrus' reputation in racing sims, they could probably make a hit with
their eyes closed, regardless of the series or era they selected.

So, instead of trying to incite a flame war, write a letter to papyrus
and ask them what they have lined up for the next couple years, and let
us know what they said.

You based your message on

flaw ?

Your aggressive response is hardly helpful in trying to stop flame wars. I
personally can't see how you got so wound up by CART's post and what is a
newsgroup for if not to discuss new developments and to air preferences
about what we want to see in the future ?

relax,

Andy.
