Actually, this is not the case. HID lights are very, very thoroughly
filtered such that no more UV light reaches the lens (let alone the road)
than is emitted by conventional halogen headlamps.
Saab and others are working on UV-emitting car front lamps in conjunction
with special fluorescent road marking paints and road sign reflective
materials, but these items have not yet reached series production.
