You know the Ring by MEMORY?!?  Ok, you're a better man than *I* am...

I've NEVER gotten a clean lap there, and my PB is 11:16.  I think I've done
less than 10 laps TOTAL...<sigh>
Although I *do* have the rest of the week off....<g>

Funny thing is, I think Jackie Stewart said it was impossible to drive
the whole of the Ring by memory - the best way was to learn the rhythm
of each section and do it like that.

Of course, with current simracing technology you can get in far more
laps and it certainly *is* possible to learn the whole of the circuit -
it just takes a long time!

It's really not that difficult. Remember and learn the track section
by section, study real life maps of the ring, and watch the
surroundings of the track for refering points.
The Ring indeed exists of different sections, each with their own
rhythm. Of all the tracks available, I like the Ring the best.

Eldred, don't concentrate on superb lap times in the beginning, it's
more important that you stay on the track. If you drive carefull, and
don't spin, a sub 10 minutes lap is really not that difficult.

<snip>

Gotta say that now I know it pretty well my fav. has got to be the Ring.
Funny really considering that, along with Brands Hatch, its a track
where I currently have no chance of competing with the AI.  My PB is
only 8:39 whilst they're in the 8:20s.  Mind you that was on a pretty
full fuel load - it was actually better than my best qualifying time -
and was an improvement of over 15 seconds from the previous time I'd
raced there and it was only 4 races ago that I was still trying to get
under 10 minutes.

I do also like Zandy and Mexico, though I used to hate Mexico at first.
Thought the twisty section awful and wondered how the AI could get
through it so quickly.  Now I'm just as quick as them. <g> And that
first corner at the end of the start/finish straight used to give me the
willys, but now I can fly into it with confidence.

You could say, when it comes to racing on all the tracks, it's the old
"is the glass half empty or half full" scenario.  For me, to not to have
tried out every track on such a great game is definitely in the half
empty category, whereas others may be happy to be competitive on the
tracks that they have raced at.

Hmm, here i go on a 10 day vacation and 3000 posts :)

I usually race on VROC sometimes between 23.00 and 01.00 CET.

And after 10 days off my racing will surely suck :)
