F1RC: AI just too crappy to be true

Ian did you ever get a chance to drive F1cs2k with John Bodin's
all chassis patches?   I think they tracked most of the sluggishness down
to the overly soft sidewalls on the tires.

F1RC: AI just too crappy to be true

No, I haven't tried it, I got F1CS the day I got F1RC and to be honest I'm
having so much fun with F1RC that I haven't modified CS at all. I did try
the patch available for F1 2000 that improves responses but it totally
screwed the AI.

Does the all chassis patch also improve throttle response and engine
responsiveness, it feels as though it's got a 6 foot flywheel attached the
time it takes to spin up to speed <G>, a F1 sim should have similar engine
responsiveness to a sportsbike. If it does I'll give it another try, though
I doubt it would replace F1RC as my current favourite F1 sim.
Nearly forgot, where can I get the all chassis patch from ?

IMO F1RC is a more rounded F1 simulator than the EA sports offerings, I
agree it's not perfect, but it runs well on my Athlon 750, it also looks
better (again IMO) with a clearer view of the track and virtually no
slowdown. I'm running on an Athlon 750, 256MB RAM V4 4500 and F1CS just
seems to struggle when a full field of cars are around, F1RC with the same
resolution doesn't have that problem and looks better.
Another thing I'm not keen on with F1CS is the kerbs, they don't seem to
have much of an effect on the car and all seem roughly the same, does the
patch make them feel more realistic ? In F1RC they are all different and can
easily throw you off track or spin you around if you attack them wrong.

Having said all that, I don't think F1CS is a bad simulator, it just doesn't
really give me what I would like from a F1 sim, F1RC isn't perfect either it
needs the AI sorting out, they can indeed be stupid at times, but there
again even GPL's AI can be idiotic from time to time :) the FF is poor and
we really need an F1 sim which can be run with a full field online. In 2001
is it really too much to ask ?
Sorry for the rant, got a bit carried away there for a while ;)
