Anyone know if it's possible to "race" head to head over modem without
other cars. This is possible in practice but what about a real two car
race ?

Thanks David.

If I were not so lame I would have been able to find that myself. I guess it
wouldn't be a 'real' race if only two cars were in it but my modem buddy and I  
have enough trouble not hitting each other. The other cars are just obstacles
to us at this point.

In drive options you can check the box to say yes to only players in
race.
