Viper Racing head to head

Is anyone else having problems with modem play in Viper Racing? Me and a
friend downloaded the demo - really good game and ***ive as hell, but
when we tried to hook up via modem to play head to head one of us was
always seeing weird behaviour of the opponent's car. For example, when
he was the server, I would see his car perfectly fine, but he would see
me jumping all over the place, doing "wheelies", going on 2 side wheels,
etc... and vice versa. We both have dell's 450 with 56k win modems. Am I
wrong to expect 56kbits/sec to be enough bandwidth for a smooth
gameplay? I guess I must be stuck in the doom-age, where 9.6kb/sec was
enough for a perfect game.
