I feel your pain. GPL is an absolute mindblowing work of code, I still almost
can't believe how good it really is. All the best, Mike

Amen, sir!  ICR2 was given to me by my uncle when I first got a computer in 1995
(a Pentium 90 with 8 megs of RAM, 1 meg Trident 9440)--and I have never grown
tired of it--even as I've upgraded to faster equipment and tried fancier sims.
It is a classic that still has a lot of life in it.

    ^^^^^^
256Meg HDD?   Man, how slow is that thing?  You guys whining about 10
fps, just imagine that puppy trying to swap 150 meg ;)  What is that, an 8
inch drive?  Don't mean to pick on your machine buddy, but I saw that and
almost crapped my pants ;)

Go for it man. My cpu was meant to be picked on. The 256mb drive still kicks.
It's been a loyal SOB. Can't complain. I'm actually getting awesome framerates
on that drive for ICR2 VGA.     SVGA is out of the question. It runs horribly.
But at least it works, unlike that GPL thingy. :)

I would definitely suggest you consider buying a video card.

Hey, my favorite sim. I'm currently on the last race of my 3rd season.  I'm
still making memories with ICR2.

I will always run ICR2 , I just hope people like Mark J. Nelson & Chas
will keep us drooling at their feet with new things to come.......

It is people like the above mentioned that keep me editing & painting
things for these sims. Though I am not even close or have the time to
be as good as them, but I wil never give up trying to make something
for others to enjoy.

Don't know what the problem is... I routinely get 25-30fps in SVGA
running ICR2 under DOS on my P133 notebook.  Grass and road textures
turned off, as they don't add much on a LCD screen.

> Can you reccomend any good ones for under $100?

For ICR2 it's Rendition all the way - although some of the newer cards
are over the $100 mark, the older v1000 cards should be in the $45 to
$65 catagory.

If you prefer, the absolute rock-bottom solution would be to locate a
store that deals in used systems and hardware...You can usually pick up
a decent Diamond-S3 card for about $5~10 bucks.  Wont run ICR2-3D tho.

Cheers!
