As Sir Geoff has decided to update GP2, (see PC Format special racing
sim issue) this is what I'd like to see. Please add yours

1       -       head panning, like CPR. CPR may have its woes, but the feeling of
speed and of bouncing around is unsurpassed. IMO this is because of head
panning. Rolling and turning front wheels would be essential too.

2       -       proper 3d graphics. I have a feeling this is going to be the main
update.

3       -       Engine cut out if the clutch isn't hit when the revs drop too low.
Ideally an extra driving aid would be to switch this off.

4       -       On board toggles for anti-roll bars, brake ballance and perhaps
differential.

5       -       extra setup options:
        i)      wheel camber
        ii)     differential
        iii)    final drive ratio
iv)     an option for the twin towers. It would be satisfying to switch
them off.
        v)      Force-feedback support. If it's as well implemented as the physics
it would be incredible!
vi)     different sizes of wings, as well as the angle

Add you own....

Hey, interesting idea!  Some of those look good on some cars, but not on
others. :)

here goes :

- skid marks
- burning clutch if you set your 1st gear to high (more then 30 or 25)
- no more slow-motion option (frame rate should be set automatically)
- if the game was saved during the race, that should be indicated in the
saved race file after you cross the finish line (or it should just
count the save/reloads) - that would help a lot to the league's.
- network support (IPX,TCP/IP)
- ghost mode maybe
- ideal line looking like the one in F1RS
- keep the idea : less helps you use -> faster you are
- one shouldn't be able to run most tracks at rear wing of 1 or 0
- zero setups seem to be the best chioce in GP2, but in real life you
can't run F1 car with packers and dampers set to 0.
- the car should roll visually
- the car should be able to flip
- more different sounds
- driving with plankwear should slow you down
- the difference in tyrewear when using hard or soft springs should be
  bigger
- maybe even simulating the tyre pressure/temperature
- an option to select different trye types for each wheel :)
- opposite lock help should slow you down :)
- when hotlapping, there should be an option to start at the end of the track
  (like in F1RS)
- opening warmup lap before the race begins (laying some *** on the
track when you head to the warmup lap should make your start a bit
  quicker :)
- running over the grass or in the kitty litter should result in a loss of
  grip on that tyre
- car failures should be a result of your driving and not choosen randomly
- Ace and Pro level should be really hard (I mean, I lap the whole field
Ace mode,65% race, for 2 or 3 times, and this is already pumped up carset)
- I am not sure of this if this is already in GP2, but still : if you get
lapped by a CC car, then the game should wait for you to cross the
finish line and also display your finish time (not just saying : 2 laps
  behind or something)
- more accurate tracks
- black flags should result in 10sec stop&go penalty
- black flag should be given if the car flies over the cerbs (like in monza)
or like at Bus stop chicane at SPA (two wheels should be always on the
track or on the white line separating the asphalt from the grass)
- WEATHER !!! (sunny,cloudy,little rain,rain)
- the track should then dry out faster on the ideal line
- there could also be an option to turn on : eg. if you drive arrows or
minardi your car should have less bhp then williams etc., but maybe
some other team would have better aerodynamics, so that would make all
the cars somewhat different and interesting to drive
- in the championship mode, you could only enter to F1 in some 3rd or 2nd
class team or maybe to 1st class team but only as a test driver and get a
drive only occasionally :)  Then you could eventually move up through
the field with your performance and your prize would rise and you would
be given more money and better offers for next season. I know this sounds
kinda arcadish and stuff, but  I bet there are a lot of ppl out there
that would love to have such option included. There could also be an option
for team managers to run the season. If they win they get more
sponsors, more sponsors mean more money -> you can hire better
designers -> you get faster, etc....  Now that's even more like some
Transport Tycoon, hehe, but I also think many ppl would like to have
  such option in the game.

Well, I better stop now :)
But I'll post some more suggestions about the sim itself if I come up
with something or if I hear something from friends.

Yep, this MUST be there.

Yeah, never seen that in an F1 sim yet, a good suggestion.

Definately... It would be amazing to have the pace car come out mid
race.

Dunno bout this...

Yep, I'm sure this will be there.

Sure would be nice, hope it's there.

Yeah, but not vital, and most would only have ability to hear nearest 4
car's engines turned on anyway.

Yeah, thats a good idea. It would be good to test at Jarama, Silverstone
International or, dare I say it, Maranello.

Yes, this is a glaring omission from F1 sims to date.

...And the debris should damage other cars.

Good idea... all part of the F1 experience I guess.

Yeah, would be cool.

You already said this :)

Nahh, not interested really.

You're pulling my leg ;)

Yeah, the driver should have the ability to know the team mate's setup
and strategy. This way, someone new to the game would know how to get a
good setup and whether to stop once, twice or thrice.

Yeah, and blues.

Yep; would think this will be included.

With respect....both GP2 and F1RS have 'black flag' penalties for
technical infringements.
Why?  Both NASCAR1/2 and ICR1/2 have used the pace/safety car.  Rather
than 'amazing' it does become rather tedious after a while.
A waste of time/money and effort.
There is the ability to hear every damn car in F1RS.  Most of us have
turned the damn things down or off completely!

Oops. I meant penalties for overtaking under yellows.

Yeah, I admit it sucked in Papy's games, mainly because I kept running
into the back of the car in front, and that I was the only car not
perfectly in line in the replays :)
Still, they don't use them as much in F1, and the occasional pace car
after a big crash would be fantastic.

I don't think so. I think putting***pit arms in is a waste of time and
money. A simple sound file that would add to the atmosphere isn't.

It's nice to know if there's a car behind you, or coming; the amount of
times I've spun off in F1RS while leading by a long way, only to recover
and listen out for second place coming up behind...

NO FRONTWHEELS!!

I'll kill Crammond *personally* if he does that.

Of course, he can still do it but save his life by making it an _option_... :-)

Yeah, but you have to sacrifice other tracks as you can only have 16 at
once. It would be good to have say 24 tracks included in the game, and
you could make your own custom championships with these other tracks
etc...
