To all concerned

I bought this game when first released here in the u.k
my system p233 128 Mb ram mystique etc, and was not really that
impressed with the game, I tried and tried to get on with it but lots of
things let it down, it was slow even on my system the graphics were
a bit blocky the sound was bad and it didn't seem to handle that well.

Checking this group it started to become apparent that I may have missed
something, so I purchased a Righteous 3D card in the hope that it would
improve
things, it didn't appear to improve the game, but because the 3d card relay
was clicking
in and out I assumed that the card was being used, not so.

In my rush to install the game I hadn't no noticed that the installation
had failed
to pick up my Righteous card and had installed the D3D version, so as you
can imagine
after playing the game I was somewhat disappointed and lead to later posting
a few complaints
about the game on this group, my apologies because I saw the patch mentioned
and
then the coin dropped I checked the installation and there was the problem.
I now run the game from the voodoo shortcut and the transformation is
awesome, its gone from
zero to hero with me!!, if ever there was good reason to get a 3D card then
this game surely is the
best, I have never dreamt that it could be this much better, the video
screens, the dynamics, the
lenz flares   simply great!!!, again if anyone read my comments on this
group re the games problems
please heave them aside..Bye Bye GP2,...

Appols for the Gargantuan size of this post, I am just so happy now!!.

Kind regards Paul Knox.

hey

I had exactly the same experience. The d3d version really sucks doesn't it!

The voodoo versions seems to be a totally different game.

Can't work out why these no-3dfx people even try to run it.

They certainly are doing this magnificent game (simulator) a great
injustice....

Welcome to the club. :-)

after being hit by at least fif*** rounds of 75mm APC from a distance of
approximately 700 yards. All of these shells had ricochetted, with the
exception of a six***th round which finally put the Mark V Panther out of
action." Sgt. Thomas P. Welborn, Germany's Panther tank, the quest for

I disagree. I have a Stealth II and a Voodoo. I prefer the D3D version because
of better fps which results in smoother driving. BTW the Stealth II has a
better picture quality (Bilinear filtering, etc.)

I can tell you why.
I have a PPRO200 96MB with Matrox Mystique 4MB and F1RS is running in
D3D very well on it. I have all graphics On except Replay. I can compare
it with my friends system that is a P200MMX 32 MB and Orchid Righteous
3D and the difference is not so big that I will rush out and buy a 3DFX
board.

He can't be running in 3dfx mode becasue the difference is so great
that if you dont buy a 3dfx board you are missing out!.

Regards Paul.

He certainly can. Because he do have the 3DFX logo at start up and we
definitely see the differences between the two versions. For instance we
can see the big screen at Monaco that is completely black at the D3D
version and showing your view on it on the 3DFX version. What I am
saying is that the differences is not as big as I would start running
for a 3DFX board, although I can see the differences.
It could also be that the Matrox Mystique board I have is a very good
D3D board. I have not tested with any other board.

Maybe try an extremely good D3D board like a Riva. It blows away the
Mystique in every aspect.

But I still prefer the 3dfx version because it runs the same speed,
and looks nicer to boot.
