New (V2.0) Advanced Physics Patch for TIR

New (V2.0) Advanced Physics Patch for TIR

by jbod » Fri, 16 May 2003 12:38:37

I have released a NEWER version of the Advanced Physics Patch for
Total Immersion Racing. V2.0 features improved steering linearity for
better responsiveness if you're using a driving wheel. This should
also help those using other types of analog controllers as well. You
can find the V2.0 version of the TIR Advanced Physics Patch at my TIR
Patch site, compliments of Blackhole Motorsports:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Note that I have also posted an updated version specifically for the
demo version as well.

The patches for the full version and the demo version are both small
downloads (about 435kB each).

ENJOY!

I hope the steering is completely linear.  If not, I'll change it back to
that myself manually, as I had before applying the patches.  I can't get
used to anything but linear steering...probably because every real car I
have ever driven uses it!

How do you change the steering to completely linear?

Use (download) the TIR Car Configurator and the Audi R8 steering linearity
controls the linearity for all cars in the game.  So it is a bit of work,
but at least you only have to adjust the one car.  The Configurator was
available at the official site the last time I checked.

Here...it's too complicated to go through all those steps.

Look in your TIR\DATA\CARS folder for the file CARDATA.DAT.

Edit it with notepad.

Look for the Audi R8 section (should be the first car).

Put the following exactly overtop of what's already there:

:WHEEL_INPUT_ARRAY
 0.000 0.000
 0.100 0.100
 0.200 0.200
 0.300 0.300
 0.400 0.400
 0.500 0.500
 0.600 0.600
 0.700 0.700
 0.800 0.800
 0.900 0.900

:STEERING_INPUT_ARRAY
 0.000 0.000
 0.100 0.110
 0.200 0.220
 0.300 0.330
 0.400 0.440
 0.500 0.550
 0.600 0.660
 0.700 0.770
 0.800 0.890
 0.900 1.000

:WHEEL_ANGLE_ARRAY
 0.000 20.000
 0.100 20.000
 0.200 20.000
 0.300 20.000
 0.400 20.000
 0.500 20.000
 0.600 20.000
 0.700 20.000
 0.800 20.000
 0.900 20.000
:STEERING_ANGLE_MAX_SPEED 140.000

:STEERING_ANGLE_ARRAY
 0.000 30.000
 0.100 27.000
 0.200 24.400
 0.300 21.800
 0.400 20.100
 0.500 18.400
 0.600 16.800
 0.700 15.100
 0.800 14.100
 0.900 12.900
:STEERING_SPEED_MAX_SPEED 100.000

:STEERING_SPEED_ARRAY
 0.000 21.400
 0.100 20.000
 0.200 18.700
 0.300 17.000
 0.400 15.500
 0.500 14.500
 0.600 13.300
 0.700 11.900
 0.800 10.700
 0.900 9.600

:STEERING_RETURN_SPEED 10.000
:STEERING_MASS 0.000
:STEERING_MOE 100.000

This will give proper linear steering for all cars.
