V4 Forcefeeback and GP2

Just bought the above wheel and am having problems with GP2 detecting
wheel. After looking in the support area for interact it states:

Q: The V4 will not work with my older racing games, even if I run them
under Windows 95 or Windows 98.

A: The V4 requires racing games that use Microsoft's DirectInput for
control. Many older racing games (those designed for DOS) do not
support DirectInput. Check with the game's publisher for more
information.

Anyone know how i get round this problem in GP2, is there a patch
available?

cheers

other than advising folks to ask questions BEFORE they spend there
money.  I'd take the advice of the wheel builder and check with the GP2
support people.  However, since it is so old, I'd doubt if any current
microprose sites offer much.
The 2nd piece of advice would be to wait for GP3.
