I used to play it a lot and I remeber it being a number showing your
position on the track relative to the other players when going head to
head. Myabe if you were the only player it would be a P, and I think it
showed the computer leader as well when playing single.

At work today my programmer and I have been arguing with our head
designer about whether on the arcade version of Daytona USA, on
the map, your car is represented by a colored box and the number
of your car or by a box with a "P" in it for "player."
My programmer and I are insisting it's your number but
can't find any photos around clear enough to make it obvious.
Our head designer is of course throwing around magazine pics of the
home version, where you are represented by the "P" and he thinks
he remembers it being that way in the arcade as well.

We're going out to Diversions tomorrow to settle the bet, the loser
buys lunch. But till then, am I right in remembering it being a number?
And does anyone have any good arcade screen shots that make it obvious?
I poked around for a while but all the shit I could find was PC or
Saturn pics. Any help to end this bet today would be appreciated.

HAHAHA! Mike!,

YOu should know better than to make bets your not sure of!  =8>}
Even though I played Daytona several times before, I was usually over
the "limit"
along with my other buddies. But if I can remember corectly, YOU are
represented by a blinking "dot"
on the "map" in Daytona USA, Arcade version. If I'm wrong make sure you
guys goto Mikey D's and
take some of your Monopoly cupons with you(g)!!
