GPL what it really takes to run.

Former system 200mmx, 64ram, thriller8meg, 17"monitor at 800x600, could run
all graphics with excellent frame rates in training but when I added ai
cars it got slowww....with 5 ai cars and only car and track texture, track
groove, all objects forward, only car in mirrors all effects off I got
20-30fps, plenty good but not good enough. So in goes a new Abit bx6,
celeron300A and 128meg pc100 ram. Well at 66mhz bus/300cpu it ran really
good, all graphics minmum sounds 10ai cars gave me 10-15 fps at the start
and 30+ around traffic after a lap or two. Gooder but not gooder enough. So
I overclocked to a 75mhz bus or 338cpu and it was better, could add a few
more cars and sounds. Then at an 83mhz bus or 374cpu I started getting
somewhere, all graphics, all sounds, all cars, 12-15 fps at the start,
20-25 into curva grande, into the 30's out of the lesmo's, this is great,
just what Iv'e been dreaming of for the past year, or is that 30 years
since I saw Grand Prix as a child? This is where it gets good, at a 100mhz
bus or a 450cpu except for the start it is full blast all the way. In the
interst of protecting my system I will run at 374cpu with only a minor
slowdown at the start. Well worth the money, under $500us. From my
experience I would say that a 300cpu and 8meg video is a good system, all
graphics 10-12 cars with excellent fps 25-35. For optimum performance with
all graphics and all cars to run 30fps it seems more like a 400 is the way
to go. Good luck.
