GPLqRat v.1.0 is released

by Ale » Fri, 10 Aug 2001 10:20:57

The first version is available at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~alexti/qrat/GPLqRat.html

Here is a brief description:

GPLqRat is an utility that extracts sector times
from saved replays, maintains the track of best split
times, dream laps (combination of best splits) and
gives a quick representation on your progress during the lap.
Split sectors are configurable. The main purpose of
the utility is to facilitate analysis how changes in
the setup or driving technique influence times at
different sectors. Analysis of most recent laps can
be started in 3 key presses or configured to start
automatically after the exit from GPL. One may select
interesting laps (fast sector time for example) and load
them into GPL Replay Analyser.

GPLqRat consists of:
1) Data extractor that is provided as executable.
It is freeware, but not open source. (so that replay format
file will remain uncovered :>)
2) Data manager that interprets extracted data and generate representation
in HTML as well as maintain the
players database. It is implemented as a set of AWK scripts
and batch files. Scripting is chosen over the executable,
so that everybody can tune representation and generate
different comparison charts without being the programmer.
3) HTTP Hub program which is needed to load selected laps
into Replay Analyser. This program is provided with the
source code. Please read security issues about this program.

Big thanks to Martin Granberg for adding command line support
to Replay Analyser and giving valuable advise about
replay file format.
