Force Feedback is still in it's infancy, but it's already an impressive
child<g>. You might read the reviews of the current hardware and check out
the forum at http://www.racesimcentral.net/; I've had the Logitech FF wheel since
November and like it very much, but wheels are fairly personal, and there is
a lot of good new hardware out there to chose from.
You asked about Formula Car sims and others have recommended Grand Prix
Legends, and for good reason, it's simply the best driving experience
available in a simulation at this time, but it's an aquired taste. It is
also an ***ion that many of us suffer willfully<vbg>. You mentioned that
you have GP2 and many will argue that it is still the "best" simulation of
the modern F1 car, I certainly can't offer an opinion on that, the closest I
ever gotten to driving a big formula car was a very short run in an old
Surtees F-5000 car that frankly, scared the s**t out of me<g>. I still have
GP2 but have converted it to a CART sim. Formula 1 Racing Simulation(F1RS)
and it's successor, Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2(MGPRS2) from
UBISoft are well liked by many and vilified by a few, both titles support
3DFX and Force Feedback, as do most new simulations. UBIsoft had an FIA
license when creating F1RS so all the teams and most of the drivers are
present out of the box. MGPRS2 however, does not have an FIA license but
editors are included in the sim which will allow you to upgrade the title in
a matter of minutes.
There are many other cool sims available now, Viper Racing, Sports Car GT
and Colin McRae Rally, to name a few, and some interesting new titles on
the horizon including a LeMans 24 Hour sim due this year, and a modern
Can-Am/SCCA sim due sometime next year. And of course, there is yet another
Neckcar sim due from Papy soon. We continue to hear rumours of GP3, but I'm
not holding my breath.
I have the Creative 4 point speakers with the SB Live Value, it's a
reasonable solution, I don't have much space and these speakers have a tiny
footprint, sound great and the software is fun to play with.

Gary might be interested to know that there are now carshape editors
and even a track editor around for GP2. This has resulted in +100
freely downloadable tracks for GP2, many of them excellently
implemented.

Warning: lots of people had trouble with the combination Soundblaster
Live + GP2

It's more than rumours now. There have been at least 2 official
announcements from publisher HASBRO and it is expected for the first
or second quarter 2000.
