TSW Formula '99 - Review

Nice review, nice wheel.
But I'll add my $0.02 :
 - $1050 !! too much IMO, I'm a great sim-fan but I can't imagine myself spening
that much
    on a game controller.
 - TSW in my opinion is not the best controller on the market, although it's up
there. Have you
ever heard of ECCI ?  Hyperstimulator ? Redline Race controls ?  I bet they
can stand up to
    it  quite well.
 - Pots....The only thing that wears out are pots (potentiometers) and not the
wheel. I can't see
how you would wear out your wheel ? And pots can be replaced quickly with
better ones.
 - for $150 you can get 3 pots of the highest quality that can take more then
2,000,000
revolutions and are very precise (if you want you can go and calculate how
long these pots
will last) and put them in your wheel .
 - I wish controller manufacturers would look up to M$'s FF wheel concept of
reading the
driver's  input is by far the best (no jitter -> better control, more
confidence).

Don't get me wrong, the wheel is probbably very good, but it's price just
doesn't cut it and I wouldn't
be surprised if there were very little orders for it. I'm afraid that the
(authentic?) Momo wheel has the
biggest share to it's price (peddals cost only about $50, I know because I've
just installed them in my road car).

P.S. : I have T2 wheel with PDPI L4 card and I'm extremely happy with it. The
only thing that I might
be missing is a steel camshaft and maybe paddle shifters...

Nice review and enjoy your wheel. I'm looking at purchasing a new wheel in
the near future. TSW2 seem to fit my budget. One more thing, change the
color of your font on your web site. Reading white lettes on medium blue
background is not easy.

Hmmmmmmm, $1050.00 seems like a lot, considering you can get a
Hymperstimulator for that.

Damn....maybe I'll pay that much when it has optical sensors and USB
support.  Otherwise, and especially considering, the next version of the PC
specs are killing off the gameport.  ISA bus is dead in PC99 so all those
ISA gamecards won't be useful very soon either.

Tadej,

thank you for the input.
I cannot infer from your reply what pots you are talking though.
Thomas Enterprises offer three high grade spectrol 50K pots for $ 65
seperately.
Let me know if you're willing to share some more data on yours....

I know of a guy (Asgeir Nesoen) that put those into his wheel. They're
20k pots and very
precise, durable and expensive ! :o)
