TM Formula1/NascarPro problems

% I have a Thurstmaster Formula 1 that I have used very little for the past 3
% months. The wheel has always had a very bad play around the central position.
% Well, yestarday I decided to open the thing and of course I broke the cabling
% while dismantling it. I discovered the problem of the play is that the black
% plastic that sits in top of the metal axis is simply too big for it. Or that
% the quality of the plastic is so bad (too tender) that just after a little
% play it gets worn out and you start having play on the wheel.

% Note I have always treated the thing *very* carefully.
% Now I am in the position of having to do soldering on the wheel to replace the
% cabling and trying to replace the black plastic part. Anyone been in this
% situation before - any suggestions? How about contacting Thrustmaster?

Do contact TM about getting a replacement part for the "black plastic
part".

Semi-rhetorical question: Is there ANY part of this wheel that doesn't
wear out in the first six months?

I'd been thinking about getting one, but it seems to have serious
reliability problems from what I'm reading around here.

I think if one took into consideration the number of TM wheels owned and
factor in the number of people who have problems with them, they hold up
alot longer than it would appear from the posts.  I used my T1 for over
3 years before upgrading to the NASCAR Pro when it came out.  The only
thing I've had to do for both of them, is replace broken pedal springs
and clean the pots once and awhile.  The bungee on the wheel might get
stretched eventually, but it is also replaceable.

Both wheels have a ton of miles on them.

I found this link yesterday that helped me with some things with my GP1
junk. Maybe there's something there you can use...
http://www.nh.ultranet.com/~alison/sims/gp1.htm

Also download the Pro Panel program from Thrustmaster's site. It helped
a lot with the drift and jumpieness I was having with my wheel in the
center also.

Have owned a Thrustmaster wheel (F1 Pro) for a year - no probs apart from me
overtightening the clamps and breaking one of the shafts.  Called TM and
picked a new shaft up same day.  Cool.  Everything else excellent.  Great
lap-times on everything from NFS to GPL.

Cheers, Rik.
