This just made my day.  With all of the when/why/how questions we're
stuck with regarding the next Nascar sims, you would think that we'd all
had our fill of Sierra bashing.  Well, try this on for size. I just read
that Sierra is going to be putting out a game called "Professional Bull
Rider."

For Sierra that is nothing out of the ordinary, being they have always made
and sold
all different kinds of software titles. Papyrus is the one that would
surpass me if
they made a bull riding sim ! But after all at one time they were thinking
about
creating a Airplane Racing sim.

The worst thing is, this is going to outsell GPL.

Pretty incredible, Bill.

In a weak moment I bought one of Sierra's flyfishing titles.  Nothing could
be LESS like standing in a Montana stream than is sitting in my bedroom with
a beer in one hand and my mouse in the other.

Wonder how they hope to suspend disbelief?  Maybe they'll include two guys
who grab your shoulders and shake you while you play?

Wonder if they'll have "sim" and "arcade" modes?

Wonder if they'll be able to get licenses from all the big-name bulls?

It's a wacky world!

Not sure about that.  But get this, it's supposed to have Internet
multiplayer where one person plays the rider and one person plays the
bull!

It's already OUT!!!!  To think they actually spent money on
THAT instead of Win95 multiplayer for N99!!!

Actually, the technical stuff like multiplayer is more directly a Papy
issue (be it Sierra influenced or not).  I'm just kinda miffed that Sierra
is spending $'s and effort in the publication/distribution of things
like Bull Riding when they could be putting it towards Papy so that they
can forge ahead with N3 (or a CART sim) and not have to do stupid projects
like N2K.  But who knows.  Maybe the Bull Riding game was just a project
that they purchased from someone else.

Well, if they use the money they get to do some REAL sims, I
guess we'd have to settle for it... Look at the Jane's fans: they have
to let Jane's do something like Fighter's Anthology, so they can get
something like F-15!  I just hope they're not "wasting" their money.
Shameful as it is, just because WE don't like a sport doesn't make it
stupid - there are a LOT of rodeo fans out there!!  .... just can't
for the LIFE of me figure out how ANYone could be "immersed" while
riding a bull on the computer!!

I guess that is good. It means they have something else to use the
N2 engnie with :-)

Hmmm....could this lead to other types of simulators (or a patch for this one)
where one 'person' is atop another?  The mind reels.....

Imagine the multiplayer sessions at '***.com'.  How about the custom
controllers people would build to play it..

no, maybe I don't want to think about this.

It doesn't matter -- the bulls and riders today are nothing like the
bulls and riders were in 1967.  Better hoof compounds and the addition
of downforce have killed the sport.
