program crashes

Hi,
Are you sure about the no cd-rom utility?
I don't have the no-cdom installed, but since I have installed some new
carset (1997, Pieter), I have had the same kind of problem.
I guess you can't mess to much with this "great software". :-)

program crashes

I am very happy to tell you that I could verify Mike's claim using a
carset I found on a webpage (I think it came from the "Unofficial GP2
manual" site) for the 97 season and *not* using the carsets by Pieter
and Jack(?). I used gp2edit (1.60) to export the .gp2 file to the gp2
binary and gfx files, and hey presto!, no more crashes. I played for
nearly two hours last night, testing just about every track, and the
8-out-of-10-sure method of causing a program crash (pileup in the
first corner in Brazil) did not produce one, either.  I don't know if
that's to do with the fact that the carset doesn't install different
tyres or***pits, maybe that's what's causing the problems, but then
I'm just guessing wildly here.

If this is the solution then maybe there definitely is something wrong
with Pieter's carsets, or maybe the method by which they are
installed. I'll keep you posted as I'll do further extensive testing
tonight (my wife's going out ;-), maybe a 100% in Portugal.

Cheers & thanks again for the tip, Mike!
