F1GP data link errors(DLE)

When playing F1 linked to another computer, via modem, we get DLE's all
the time. We've tried changing our strings and lowering frame rates,
also taking out traction and adjusting the detail, but none of this
works. There are times when we go a while without and DLE's but it never
lasts. Any ideas will be tried, and if it works i'll e-mail you to let
you know. Also I need to find the '95 F1 drivers and thier teams.

Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem with my friend. There are some things worth checking:
 - both of you must have the same version of the game
 - if either of you have loaded F1GP related TSRs before the game
( i.e. CCPIT, SPLITTIM etc. ), both of you must load the same TSRs with
   same parameters

I'm not 100pct sure about that game version stuff, but about the TSR stuff
I am 100pct sure, because I read in CCPIT's documentation that both machines
need to load the program and with the same parameters.

It is an absolute MUST that BOTH gp.exe files be IDENTICAL.  That means
the same editor must be used (f1ed, gped or karussel) with the same grip
level.  You can NOT mix and match.  If you use gped, he must use gped.  If
you use wcf1gp then he must use wcf1gp.  Most of the editors edit slightly
different than each other.

What you really need to do is get WCLAUNCH.  This makes changing things
around MUCH easier.  It is extrememly easy to use and will make your life
much better.  If you wait a week, the next version, which is v6.0, will
be ready to download.  V6 will have support for either a DOS editor or
the windows editor.

PS - If you EVER used a different editor on the same GP.EXE file (eg you
tried F1ED then switched to GPED), then you MUST start over with a fresh
'unedited' GP.EXE file or you may experience similiar problems to the
ones you have mentioned above.

In fact, the absolute best thing to do is to have only one of you edit
the gp.exe, and then download it onto the other person's machine. That
way you know with 100% certainty that they are identical.
