Hi Thomas,
There is a very divergent set of theories and preferences for the GPL
FF settings. One involves relatively low numbers for Damping, the
other very high. I am not sure what the logical ranges really are, but
the settings below are moderate examples of the extremes.
Try it both ways and see what you like:
[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1
force_feedback_damping = 600.000000
force_feedback_latency = 0.000000
max_steering_torque = 300.00000
or
[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1
force_feedback_damping = 20.000000
force_feedback_latency = 0.000000
max_steering_torque = 175.00000
I have seen damping values from 0 to 6000 posted (GTX_Stotcar is the
fellow who brought the high range to our attention), and a smaller
range (100 - 2000 for torque - never 0). Latency is an odd parameter.
0 is thoeretically best, but some (tiny) value can apparently help on
some PCs in avoiding odd FF response spikes.
Best thing is to fool around with the settings and figure out what you
like best. I like to test on the Nurburgring, since I have so many
opprtunities to have FF intesive "incidents" ;-).
Hope you get you wheel soon!
