I'm just wondering if the ACT labs force rs wheel and shifter combo will
work with N3? What are your impressions of the force feedback sensation is
it realistic?

Ed,

I use this very setup with N3.  The shifter works in legacy mode, ie - push up
to shift up, pull down to shift down.  The 'gate' does not work with N3 in
terms of you cannot shift to any gear you like.  Its sequential only.

The FF in N3 is pretty good, not GPL like, but decent just the same.

It will work in  N3 and supports split axis pedals. As far as I know, N3
doens't support gated shifting, but it can sitll be used in sequential mode.
The FF is supposed to be quite good.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't been able to figure out why I'd want to
use the gated shifting in N3 anyway. Actually, I don't see all that much of
a downside to using automatic shifting in N3, on the ovals anyway but I know
many will disagree.  I'd love to see it implemented in GPL though.  Even so,
I still much prefer using the RS Shifter in sequential mode to using paddle
shifters, buttons, etc.

Stephen,

There is no benefit and it would only be because it is 'authentic'.  Most modern
sports cars, etc use sequential or push button shifting anyways.

You are right... it would be awesome in GPL <G>

ACT Labs force RS wheel and shifter - will this setup work with N3?

by Kevin Anderso » Sun, 23 Jan 2000 04:00:00

My T2 shifter broke almost a year ago. I have been using auto shift ever
since. I remember at first I did notice I was  slightly slower at the tracks
with shifting, But the rest it doesn't make a difference. And I never blew
an engine. I will however have to learn to remember to shift when my new
Force RS arrives.
