lol ...each to their own

If your satisfied with the un-realistic driving force in a cheap
plastic boxes well then your welcome to them ..every couple of years as
needed.

Logitec's best FF wheel was the cable driven "Old Red" LWFF, this was
well before the gear driven MOMO and it was considered by many to be
the best FF available, I had no problems with it and it was setup just
fine, but no plastic $200 disposable wheel can be compared to the likes
of TSW,BRD, and ECCI.

I was saying that I was at an eighty percent chance, that you had not
actually experienced properly setup and funtional Force Feedback even with
that (super version) of the logitech wheel.

I agree a VW- Beetle does nothing like my F150, pfffft.

All I was saying (again) if you didnt enjoy FF, then I think you had trouble
with the wheel and prolly dont know it.  The mere fact that you dont like
it, and the fact that 1 in 5 ever get it to work right with Logitech stuff
(over the years).

TO me it is like saying "I hate skiing" when you only had your mom's
backyard's hill, with plastic ski's from Ronco or Wham-O exerience.  Just
know, when the rest of us go skiing at real places and enjoy the hell out of
it (analogus to enjoying the hell out of FF).

I agree with you after all, "to each thier own" right back at ya!

yet I cant help but say, are you positive you've been giving it a fair
chance?
P.S. I reserve the right to not include the new DFP's in my 80% assumption,
I might remove from that group.

Larry,

I could sell you my Black wheel, MS FF wheel, it is my spare, Im keeping my
red wheel version, any bids?  hell it is like new, I probably could empty
the box it came with (storing game boxes in it I *think*) I too will want a
BRD if the FF setup is worth a shit, as you might seen in this thread, dont
you see what I was saying: that most people who "tried FF and dont like it,
had Other than Microsoft wheels", at least 90% of them.

I didn't say I didn't like FF, I said I wouldn't go back to it unless
it was on a $15,000 simulator that can do it properly ....and you come
trolling along with your $100 pos proclaiming to be the expert on  pc
wheels? Some could argue that since you own a $100 ms wheel your
expertise in this discussion doesn't have alot of merrit.

and btw ...I'm an hours drive from Banff, so the skiing here is quite
good;)

***!  I didnt come in here trying to spouse I was an expert at nothing.  I
offered an opinion on a 'discussion' board, and supported my conclusions, as
I saw fit.  I didnt say I could be wrong, damn dude.

if you took it in some way other than an attempt to say I thought "maybe"
you didnt have or give it a fair shot no fault of your OWN see I typed that!
( I didnt *** aboutyour 100 dollar wheel that makes you less than an
expert either) so be it.  Take what you want from the suggestion, try and
remember if I was picking on you or whatever you thought the discussion
turned into, think about this...  I would just do email or forget it, only
because I realize, more than just you or me (least I assume) might read this
thread,

damn.

just like I can argue with a Porche lover has love for a POS car...
Corvettes suck, {and whatever you have I hate?  from your reply I gather?}
I gave you an honest and thought out opinion, jeeez you act as though I was
crucifying you at the stake.

FIne, least you know what I meant with my analogy.

This is just too much fun:D ....I replied to the topic in this thread
twice with my opinion on a high end wheel I've had good experience with
...and your "honest and thought out opinion" was ...

"Some could argue that if you were not the ultimate PC technician,
ESPECIALLY
since you had the "Logitech" branded wheel, you have no fruitfull
experience
with force feedback."

If your going trolling you should come better equipped, I don't care to
enter into battles of wits with unarmed adversaries;)

back on topic JML

A couple big differances in TSW's line is that the TSW has more
bearings than a TSW2 and it has an even more solid steel frame for the
pedal set. Most other options are available on both models and they
build the wheel according to your specs. You decide what options it
will have. I doubt they even offer a midi/gameport version now but I
wouldn't recommend it if they did, good sound cards with a midi port
are getting harder to find. USB would be a more logical choice these
days.

I know four people with a TSW2 and they are just a happy with it as I
am with my fully optioned TSW. You can also upgrade these wheels
if/when you wish, they are quite basic and easy to work on without any
specialty tools, and Dave jr will still honour the lifetime warranty.

One last point about a TSW ....it took eight years but now even the
wife finally agrees that it was a responsible purchase ;)

I have got a Logitech Driving Force Pro, it's been changed slightly by me to
allow more rotaion when set in the 1/2 turn mode... Its also been frexed...
but I don't think I would recomend Frex... it takes ages ( and I mean
ages ). Plus it keeps coming apart, so its a weekly thing to tighten
something or another up !!

I will by the new BRD set up 100% for sure when it comes out !

So what you are saying is that you were offended by me stating that there
was a 1 in 5 chance that you didnt have a real or decent ff experience with
the logi wheel?
I gave you every possible reason to NOT be ***ing offended by saying, let
me spell it out one more time" that if everything was not perfect, and the
stars all being in a perfect alignment, you MIGHT NOT HAVE ANY REAL OR FAIR
EXPERIENCE with FORCE FEEDBACK" simply because for so few, did the logitech
wheel actually work right, and the fact that so many here had to experiment
the hell out of settings that some of us never had to.  Furthermore if it
was perfect for you and you hated it, you think I am going to be upset or
something?
NO,
So good for you, at least you are positive you dont like it or whatever...

Im slipping from positive about buying one, as someone was looking over my
shoulder when I posted, that didn't approve, at least not yet  LOL.  I will
have to watch for your feeback on it Paulinho, see how much 'trouble' it
will be worth, hehehee.

After I bought my first FF wheel, I gave my TSW2 away, and have never
looked back.

The words I look for are "Logitech" and "Momo".  Yeah, I've had to
replace them every year or two, when they've broken (I actually bought
the extended warranty/replacement deal on the last one) or started to
get sloppy.

And I'm not any faster.  But to me, the TSW2 felt like a computer game,
the FF is much more realistic to me.  And I've raced real cars.

Love my DFP, ands wouldn't trade it for any wheel.

As soon as the u.s. distributor has Speed 7's in stock, I'm ordering a set.
Looking to take a significant step forward with this combo.

That Speed 7 wheel has an option (an expensive option) which among
other features has what their ad refers to as "analog clutch paddles".

Would it be possible to use these paddles to control acceleration and
braking instead ?

This may be my only option to get a quality, precision wheel with 'hand
controls'.

Elrikk  ( Hoping that this can be done. )

I couldn't figure out from their web page if it's possible Elrikk, but

Thanks Dave.

Wrote to the address you suggested and received a quick answer from Simon
Ball his very self.

In part he says;

" The Speed7 wheel has been designed with full analogue clutch paddles for
the very purpose that they can be used as accelerator and brake when pedals
are not connected. We have a number of customers who do not have use of
their legs or feet and in the past we have custom built some steering
controls. The purpose of the new wheel is that we can cater for all
customers with the standard product."

Looks perfect, so thanks again.

Elrikk

PS.  Now I only hope I don't have to sell my right arm to afford it.  Else
I'll be back where I started but this time  trying to find a wheel that can
be used with out pedals and with only one hand.   ;o)
