Does Your Head Roll?

by Chris Bloo » Tue, 09 May 2000 04:00:00

My girlfriend has made me aware that when I am racing GPL, GP2,
N99 or whatever else, my head leans in the direction of the turn
I am taking!  She thinks this is rather amusing!

Does anyone else do this while (sim)racing?  I don't even notice
it myself.  Maybe I'm taking it a little bit too seriously:o)

Sure. At least when I'm really into the race.

I roll my head, lean into turns, gesture to other drivers, wave to the crowd
and occasionally throw both arms over my head to protect my virtual cranium.

It's more of a body lean for me ;-)  I tried to sit straight, but ... it just
doesn't feel right.  Hehe.

Well it really depends what I'm driving.  GPL, N3, GP2, SCGT, other car games
my head rolls.  SBK, AMASBK, and GP500 my whole body leans :)

My head seldom tilts. I've been told I'm not a very emotional driver, but
that's not really true. It's just that to me a blink is showing intense
emotion. I'm also not *** equipment ;-)   But... a few years back I had
a friend over that wasn't into ***. I let him try Red Baron.  He flipped
side to side in the chair a few times, holding the joystick in the air,
sometimes at arms length. Finally, pulling out of a dive, the joystick rose
until it was over his head and behind him, like he was pulling in a fish,
and he fell backwards, chair and all.

Never - quite the opposite in fact:  my jaw locks up, eyes stay wide
open, and I stop moving completely so much that my brain kinda moves
about in my head, if that makes any sense.. Very cool feeling to get - I
strongly recommend trying it.

Oddly enough I have noticed that I hold my breath through the
two Lesmo's, I still can't keep my head still though.

I also have a bad habit of completely freezing as I go over
Flagplatz, freezing so badly infact that I don't unfreeze until
I've launched the Lotus up that darned grass bank!!

You're not alone bud.  I do it all the time.  I have a friend that is 6' 6",
270 lbs, and he does it to, and he leans into the corner as well.  When he
does it, I cringe because I don't think the chair can take the pressure.

Hehe.......I can just imagine how funny it must have been.  I
only hope he didn't take the joystick & computer with him on his
backwards flip!

Heh... I don't know about my breathing, but a friend of mine sniffs, snorts
and strains as if he were actually taking some serious G's...

ABSOLUTLY! Yeah, I do that, also hold my breath sometimes, especially when
overtaking online :) Lots of butt-clentching too!
