The intro screen to world circuit shows an example race and plays a nice
tune.  The tune seems to be associated with formula one racing.
Does anyone know the title of the song, who recorded it, if it has
been released?  I know Dave Lowe wrote it according to the credits,
but that doesn't get me very far in Phonolog, or any index to
recorded music I have found so far.  Thanks.

I'd be willing to bet it was created for the game and is
not released anywhere...many computer nerds like me are
also MIDI musicians, so it isn't hard to find someone
to score an intro screen for a game..

Any other ideas?

I think we might be talking about two different songs.  When you are in the
main menu, there is a song playing that might be by Fleetwood Mac, but I am
talking about the intro that runs before the game actually starts, the one
with the driver putting on his helmet and driving out of the garage.
The music seems to be an instrumental and doesn't seem bery much like
Fleetwood Mac to me.  I will have to check.  Thanks.

It was most likely written for the game, but I think it was definitely
written to sound like the music the BBC use to introduce motor sport
programs.

BTW, it sounds a helluvva lot better on the Amiga than the PC. The
resemblence is even more obvious. (I think someone recognized it
as the end of a Fleetwood Mac tune. Perhaps they could supply a
little info for the FAQ?)

If it's the same tune as on f1gp, I think it's supposed to sound like
"The chain" by Fleetwood Mac. Excerpts from this tune have been used to
introduce BBC Grand Prix programs over many years and has become
synonymous with GP racing in this country.

Hi there,
The tune sounds very similar to the one used by the BBC in
Britain as the music for its Grand Prix programs.  As far as I know
it is part of a song called "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, hope this
helps!

I have heard the music before.  I think the networks used it as intro music
for some of the formula 1 races they have shown.  It doesn't mean it has been
released, but the credits say that it was scored by so and so based on the
music by Dave Lowe.  So at least the sheet music should have been released.
Are there any databases on sheet music?  Thanks.

It sounds just different enough to Fleetwood Mac's ``The Chain'' (from
``Rumours'') to avoid copyright suits, I'd guess. ``The Chain'' has
been the theme tune for the BBC's Grand Prix coverage for about the
last 15 years, and the first time I played F1GP I instantly assumed
that the music was meant to remind UK players of happy afternoons spent
collecting Walkerisms...

Yes, the music that the BBC use is in fact the end of "The Chain" by
Fleetwood Mac.

On the subject of music, does anyone know who wrote the music that
the BBC uses on the grid line-up on it's GP highlights programs - I
want to make a mod of it, so I can use it with F1GP and play it in
the background on an Amiga of course (not possible on PC methinks?).

The intro tune for World Circuit is not Fleetwood Mac's "The
Chain". It is supposed to sound slightly like it ( without
infringing copyright ).
