Hello to all, for those interested aboout having some very good utility
to modify the 94 carset/performance/numbers EDITOR to 96'-97'
specification . go at Peter's homepage:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Here's what i've done

1- changed CAR NUMBERS to 96' season (well go for 97' when all will be
sort out)

2- changed CAR colors to this year:ARROWS->FOOTWORK with new colors and
so on...

3- the BEST: change the PERFORMANCE of every teams to the current
standard 96' + change PERFORMANCE of every drivers on each teams.
The program is named GP2CCP.ZIP.

With this you can change BHP of each engine (from 0-1567 BHP)--> since
i wanted to keep the game (at the same)in ACE LEVEL i didn't increase
Horsepower for the top teams.

In 94' the engine were 3.5L normally aspirated best peak BHP were at 820
for Qualifying and 800 BHP for raceday/practice.
This year the real BHP for top teams would be close to 760-770 BHP in
Qualifying and 740-750 for raceday since they use now 3.0L engine

(correct me if i'm wrong) PERFORMANCE OF EACH TEAM

My personal view would be:
               Qualify      Race
Renault          760         750  *** substract some BHP for Benetton,
the reason is they had difficulty with
AIR INTAKE (over the helmet) that
                              caused some losses
Peugeot          770         755 -->well known this year that Jordan is
                                    fast on top speed.
Mercedez         770         755 -->same thing for Mclaren
Ferrari          765         745 --> the engine from La Scudaria was a
                                     "special one" for Qualifying,also
AIR INTAKE that causes some loss in
                                     BHP (look at Schumi,he was
                             intentionally putting is helmet out
of the way on the long straight)
Yamaha           730         720 (supplier to Tyrell)
FORD (latest)    730         720 (supplier to Sauber, other ??)
FORD (oldest)    690         680 (supplier to Minardi,Forti,others ??)
Mugen (Honda)    755         740 (supplier to Ligier)
Hart             700         690 (supplier Arrows)

PS this are absolute #,so the best engine at TOP RPM is not necessary
good at MID-RANGES (compare RENAULT and PEUGEOT) The Renault engine has
the best POWER CURVE (more power thru the hole range of RPM)

PERFORMANCE ON EACH DRIVERS (called in the program :GRIP)

Here it might be more personal, but the way i have done this is:

Since the F1 car lost some Horsepower with 3.0L engine, i have slightly
increased there GRIP # to get a bit better time in both qualify and race
time, this might be difficult to obtain, but you'll have to do trial and
error til' you see good track time for each driver/team.

IMPORTANT NOTE (i have worked lots of hours to figure it out)

1- IF you have changed CAR NUMBERS for this year follow these
instruction (it will prevent you for some head scratching)

- Even if the program says WILLIAMS #0,2 USE this AS WILLIAMS FOR
PERFORMANCE CAR (BHP) ONLY!
- Then use DRIVERS GRIP (#0,#2)->(remember this year it's Schumi,Irvine)
and edit their GRIP --> What i want to say is
on the same line as the Williams edit the # (GRIP) for the Ferrari
drivers,it's not going to be Hill and Coulthard--> read this again!

Now Edit TYRELL for their BHP in 96' and then edit the
DRIVERS GRIP (#3,4)for Alesi and Berger (since they use these # this
year)

Edit BENETTON for BHP only, and again edit the DRIVERS GRIP for #5,6
which are Hill and Villeneuve this year.

Hope you got the point (VERY IMPORTANT), BASIC RULE:
Edit the POWER for each TEAM name (as the program displays it)
Then search for the correct NUMBER for each driver to edit their GRIP.

PS the program works as follow :
0,2 (WILLIAM POWER,FERRARI DRIVERS GRIP)
3,4 (TYRELL POWER,BENETON DRIVERS GRIP)
5,6 (BENETTON POWER,WILLIAMS DRIVERS GRIP)
7,8 (Mclaren didn't changed this year)
9,10(ARROWS POWER,LIGIER DRIVERS GRIP)
11,12(i have put the "good" FORTI here for POWER,JORDAN DRIVERS)
13,14 -->(here's where it's more UGLY,#13 doesn't exit in real F1
car, you'll have to create one,so #13 you??,#14 is the first
F1 from JORDAN POWER,now for #13 DRIVERS ??,#14 DRIVERS is
          the first from SAUBER GRIP)
15 (2nd car JORDAN POWER,2nd SAUBER DRIVERS GRIP)
16,17(again a big mix up-->in 94' no #16,17 but there's a provision for
"unknown" car (F TEAM) so edit that line for ARROWS DRIVERS GRIP)
18 (unknown car (G TEAM) edit that 1st driver for TYRELL DRIVERS GRIP)
19 (LARROUSE POWER 1st car,TYRELL 2nd DRIVERS GRIP)
20 (LARROUSE POWER 2nd car,MINARDI 1st DRIVERS GRIP)
21 (unknown car (G TEAM),MINARDI 2nd DRIVERS GRIP)
22 (unknown car (H TEAM),FORTI 1st DRIVERS GRIP)
23 (MINARDI POWER 1st car,FORTI 2nd DRIVERS GRIP)
24 (MINARDI POWER 2nd car,"depending how you changed the drivers # here
so, put that 1st DRIVERS GRIP here)
25( xxx POWER CAR 1st car, that depends on you,LIGIER 1st DRIVERS GRIP)
26( xxx POWER CAR 2nd car,LIGIER 2nd DRIVERS GRIP)
27,28(FERRARI POWER CAR,in my case, it's my own team DRIVERS GRIP)
29,30(SAUBER POWER CAR, your creation?? DRIVERS GRIP)
31,32(SIMTEK POWER CAR,SIMTEK DRIVERS GRIP)
33,34(PACIFIC POWER CAR,PACIFIC DRIVERS GRIP)

Hope it was usefull to some of you,one more comments: when your driving
in a race this performance editor won't change YOUR CAR,so if your
putting 1567 for you,it won't work, but your teammates will pass you on
the long straight at Hockenheim like if you were parked!

Forgot to tell there's also a BREAKDOWN function for all the TEAM CAR
and a RANDOM GRIP for all DRIVERS.

Have fun! Eric

Thi is not true. You DON'T need #13, just skip it or enter 0 for
performance, then continue editing #14 and #15 for first and second
Sauber driver.

I did this, after editing the driver's helmets- guess what- now the
helmet order is screwed up. Berger in a Ferrari, Irvine in a Williams,
etc.

I think we need to look into this relationship between bitmaps and
driver numbers a bit more....

Helmet bitmaps are related to drivers order presented in Choose
driver/team menu. So if you have there something like this:

  5 Hill                 6 Villeneuve
18 Katayama    19 Salo
  3 Alesi              4 Berger
  .....

you should put helmet bitmaps in this order:

Hill
Villeneuve
Katayama
Salo
Alesi
Berger
......
