I haven't seen your replay but I share your frustration. The same thing
happened to me at Watkins Glen tonight, I had just over taken Clark and
then whack at the next corner as he ploughed straight in to me.

Normally it is usually my fault when it happens (well sort of) if I
brake a bit too early especially in the early laps when the tires are
cold and the braking distances are greater then the chances are greater
of a thump from behind. But as the race progresses and the tires get
hotter I can usually out brake them.

Try and get a set up that allows for deeper braking and brake harder,
later.

Alternatively have a look at AItweak 103, you can adjust the breaking
habits of the ai cars.

This post is really just a way for me to help calm down after a GP race at
Zandvoort.
Doing it easy in the lead just after half distance when after passing a
slower car (Parkes) he decides that he doesn't need to use the brakes to
slow down for the first corner, as he conveniently has a car in front of him
to slow him. Slam... One very deranged RR suspension on a Lotus. Damn!
Is this a common occurrence for other people? In case someone is
interested I have posted a replay to alt.binaries.simulators.autos .
Thank you for letting me vent my spleen, sorry anger. :)

Open the file called "gpl_ai_ini" and change the line
"braking_efficiency_coeff" from 0.700 to 1.000.
This has helped to keep me calm <g>.

That's nothing - I was clouted this morning at Spa after out-dragging an
AI car when I wasn't even braking - I could see in my mirrors that he
waited for me to get past then tried to slip in behind me, but got it
wrong and hit my rear wheels.

Black flag!
