Need for speed : THE HORN ?

by de_loose.m.. » Thu, 21 Dec 1995 04:00:00

Hi all,

I just bought need for speed.

And i have a question.

Does the horn, have any real purpous, or is it just to get rid of
frustrations. I somthimes try to use it to get a stupped car out of
the way, as a result a crash into the side of the rood trying to hit
the H key.

Anyone care to comment. Also the handbreak, same question really .

Hi!

Press "H" button for five seconds, and your car will make a
great noise for five seconds.....

Sometimes, if you honk at traffic, bang into their rear end, and go
around them, then jam on the brakes, they'll honk at you...honk back, and
they might honk back again.

The only thing I can see using the handbrake for is to make your car do a
360 in the air in the beginning of the first leg of the alpine road.

Go watch replay3...you'll see.

It's VERY hard to get the timing down, but I've managed to do it once

I haven't found it to be of any use playing by yourself. However, I
found that during modem play,if I blow my horn while passing slow cars,
they tend to get over. This really comes in handy if you've got you
opponent 2-3 seconds back and are passing a caravan of cars in the right
lane. =)

It's probably a realism touch.  The 512TR's horn does sound like a Ferrari.

...Ritch.

That's not true!!

The handbrake it's for tight cornering, you can improve you time by
applying the handbrakes in Very tight corners.

really .

a 360 in the air in the beginning of the first leg of the alpine road.

The horn does seem to be useless,  but the hand brake probably comes into
play in RALY mode where  the RIDGE,  ALPINE,  COASTAL,  and DESERT  routes
turn to dirt and the level of difficulty of the game goes up drastically.
It's probably only useful on the COASTAL and maybe the ALPINE where there are
a few corners tight enough to use it to throw the car into oversteer,  ala
World Rally Championship style driving.   I keep saying probably because I'm
not even close to being able to drive the car in RALY mode yet.

I've been playing for 2 weeks now, won at all 7 tracks (I know that's not a
real accomplishment), and I haven't used the handbrake except to do stunts.

The tightest corner i've come across is the tunnel  hard left in the 3rd
stage of Alpine.  Do you use it there?  do you hold it until your car is
pointed right?

BTW, any places where use NFS players compare times?
I also play IDC1 and 2.  Maybe if you know how, we could go head to head
over the net sometime...
