<idea snipped>

An interesting piece, but the validity of it i have to wonder. I am curious to
how many people here actually "drive by gauges".

I personally in whatever game, drive by sound. I'll be changing gear by pitch,
or more appropiately in modern F1 games, by lights that light up when to
change gear.

I can't say that other than a curious glance down during the middle of a
straight i'm worried too much about what the dials are doing.

Such a device would  be useful, perhaps in a "heads up" display, but i can't
but think it's just something else to ignore.

Floating***pits, a la CMR and GPL give better indication over the attitude
of the car, but aside from a full***pit which has freedom of movement, i
don't think there will ever be consitent technology to allow this to be
simulated well.

Nice idea  - I like the four tyres symbols growing and shrinking myself.

I think telemetry would be very useful. Again it wasn't available in 1967,
but they had the advantage of sitting in the cars!
